The Pippa Middleton diet doesn’t, as yet, officially exist, but with her sister, Royal Bride Kate, and their mother Carole both on the Dukan Diet, we can be sure that Pippa is also a Dukan diet convert
It’s a relatively new diet but with Pippa’s endorsement it looks set to get even bigger. It was created by the French nutritionist Pierre Dukan, and was actually one of France’s best kept secrets until the book was published in English a few years ago.
Although it’s a high-protein, low fat diet one might be forgiven for thinking we’ve been here before with the Atkins diet and others like it. But it’s actually more of an eating plan, a way of training your body to take food in a different way. It’s claimed that after undertaking the plan you will be able to eat whatever food you like and still retain your optimum weight.
The plan is based around four simple phases. These are called the attack phase, the cruise phase, consolidation phase and stabilization phase.
Naturally enough the plan starts with the attack phase, which is 2 to 5 days of eating nothing but proteins. This really gives the body a jolt and it’s possible to lose 1 or 2 kg in the first days.
You next go into what is called the cruise phase which is longer than the first phase and consists of pure protein days, like in the attack phase, and vegetable and protein days. The weight loss is not as dramatic as in the first phase but there will be a gradual losing of weight throughout the cruise period.
The next phase is the consolidation phase, this period is to reach your target weight. The final phase stabilization . This is where you can eat whatever you like and if you followed the plan religiously then your weight should remain stable. However one day a week must be given over to proteins again, like in the first part of the diet.
Celebrities like Pippa love the Dukan Diet
Celebrities like Pippa Middleton and Jennifer Lopez are popularizing this diet and encouraging thousands of women to try it. Lopez claims normal diets and exercise couldn’t shift the final 20 kg after she had given birth to twins, but the Dukan diet gave the results she wanted.
So this summers new fad diet is definitely the Pippa Middleton diet and with more and more celebrities endorsing this diet seems highly likely that it will grow in popularity. But it shouldn’t be forgotten that exercise and moderation of things such as alcohol should always be part of any eating plan will diet.
